apprenticeships

We often question applicants, "What makes you want to become an electrician?" Some times the answer is because they like tinkering with electronic gadgets. This is not what we tend to do. Electricians involved with general domestic and commercial work have to climb through ceilings, under houses, work up high… it can be dirty and not overly glamorous. It's not all like that but that is an aspect of the job you have to be prepared to do.

Our requirements are:

  • Able to specifically follow instructions
  • Ability to learn with relative ease
  • Good clear communication skills
  • Mechanical aptitude a plus
  • Positive outlook
  • Can do attitude
  • Physically fit
  • Current drivers licence a bonus but not initially essential
  • Able to grasp mathematical concepts
  • Good references from teachers and/or recent employers

When we look at hiring someone a major consideration is attitude. Attitude towards people, work and learning. Grades are important but are usually a secondary consideration.
